Triumph of the Honda HRC PETRONAS Team in Lommel

Jeffrey Herlings of the Honda HRC PETRONAS team claimed an undisputed victory at the 14th round of the MXGP Motocross World Championship in Belgium, held on the legendary and treacherous sandy track in Lommel.

The Dutch motorcycle racer demonstrated absolute dominance throughout the entire weekend, winning Saturday’s qualifying race and then confidently finishing first in both Sunday races. This victory earned the athlete the maximum 50 points for the day and became a historic triumph, strengthening his status as the leader of the current season.

Under the extreme loads of the deep Belgian sand, the key success factor was the ideal engine protection provided by PETRONAS Sprinta engine oil, which guaranteed maximum motorcycle power output throughout the entire distance. The specifics of sand racing require engines to operate at maximum revs, which critically increases the risk of overheating. PETRONAS Sprinta engine oil effectively handles ultra-high thermal loads and reduces internal friction, allowing the Honda HRC PETRONAS riders to maintain stable acceleration dynamics: Tom Vialle finished fourth, while Ruben Fernandez took sixth place overall.

For Jeffrey, this success became the 120th Grand Prix victory of his brilliant career and his eighth round win of the 2026 season. Thanks to his triumph in Lommel, Herlings made a powerful leap in the overall standings of the Motocross World Championship. The Honda HRC PETRONAS rider increased his lead over second-placed Romain Febvre to an impressive 104 points.
