PETRONAS is updating the branding of its SYNTIUM oil product line to make it easier for automotive service centers to select the right products. The new approach better reflects the modern requirements of vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) and is suitable for new types of engines, including hybrid vehicles.

The enhanced PETRONAS Syntium product line includes three new levels which, together with the Syntium X range, will replace the previous numerical naming system:

• Syntium Hybrid
• Syntium Supreme
• Syntium Prime
• Syntium X

Syntium Hybrid holds a special place in the new product line. It is an engine oil specially developed for hybrid vehicles. These engines are characterized by frequent start-stop cycles and lower operating temperatures. This requires the use of adapted CoolTech-H™ lubrication technology, which provides additional protection against wear and contamination.

The top-tier version, Syntium Supreme, is designed for high-performance internal combustion engines and uses CoolTech+™ technology, which reduces engine wear and helps improve fuel efficiency by up to 13%.

Syntium Prime is a universal oil suitable for most modern vehicles. Syntium X is intended primarily for older vehicles whose factory warranty has already expired. For such vehicles, the manufacturer’s requirements are no longer as strict, so this type of oil can be used.

In addition to technical improvements, PETRONAS is introducing color coding on the packaging — gold for Syntium Supreme and Syntium Hybrid, green for Syntium Prime, and grey for Syntium X — to speed up product identification in the warehouse and on the shelf.

The full list of products is presented below.

The numerical series identification — 800, 3000, 5000 and 7000 — has been removed from the names of all products and replaced with the words PRIME or SUPREME. At the same time, the letter designations of most products have retained continuity.

Three new products have been formed by combining previous products:

• SYNTIUM 7000 LLE 0W-20 will replace SYNTIUM 7000 DME 0W-20, SYNTIUM 7000 LL 0W-20 and SYNTIUM 7000 VO 0W-20
• SYNTIUM SUPREME LL 0W-30 will replace SYNTIUM 7000 LL 0W-30 and SYNTIUM 7000 DM 0W-30
• SYNTIUM SUPREME FPW02 0W-30 will replace SYNTIUM 7000 FJ 0W-30 and SYNTIUM 7000 CP 0W-30

Three completely new products focused on STELLANTIS Group vehicles have also been introduced:

• SYNTIUM SUPREME FPW01 0W-20 (ACEA C6, OV 040 1547-A20, B71 2010, 9.55535-GSX, FPW 9.55535/01),
• SYNTIUM PRIME FPW03 5W-30 (ACEA C3, OV 040 1547-G30, B71 2290, FPW 9.55535/03)
• SYNTIUM SUPREME FPW 09 5W-40 (ACEA C3, 9.55535-S2, FPW 9.55535/09, 9.55535-GH2, 9.55535-M2, 9.55535-T2, ABARTH 0101, ABARTH 0102)

The names and part numbers of Syntium X products have not changed — only the visual design of the canisters has been updated.
